The Payroll Accountant will serve as a key member of our client’s financial team, responsible for managing payroll operations and contributing to general accounting functions. This role requires a strong understanding of payroll regulations and accounting principles, with the ability to ensure compliance and accuracy in both areas.
Execute internal payroll processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in all aspects of payroll data processing using ADP Workforce Now (WFN). This includes managing biweekly full-cycle payroll, processing employment changes, demographic updates, and payroll requests.
Conduct regular audits of payroll data to ensure compliance with applicable ESA legal requirements and resolve discrepancies as needed. Collaborate with ADP to meet all deadlines and requirements.
Prepare and submit payroll reports, including statutory remittances and year-end forms (e.g., T4 summaries, T2200s).
Assist in financial transactions, including verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling financial data to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
Contribute to preparing financial statements, such as balance sheets and profit/loss statements, and provide financial analysis to support business decisions.
Assist in budget preparation and forecasting by analyzing financial data and trends.
Maintain and update accounting systems to ensure data integrity and compliance with financial regulations.
Assist in maintaining accounting controls by recommending policies and procedures to ensure financial security and compliance.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
5 years in payroll and accounting
Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) or CPA certification is an asset.
Proficiency in ADP Workforce Now along with experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks or SAP.
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities to interact effectively with various stakeholders.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and a high degree of discretion.
