      Payroll Specialist

We’re looking for a Payroll Specialist to join our dynamic team.       About the Role:

      Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the Payroll Specialist will be responsible for processing payroll for over 1,000 employees, ensuring compliance with local and federal regulations, and handling all payroll-related functions across various locations. This role requires someone who is organized, proactive, and capable of handling complex payroll tasks while working in a hybrid environment.

      Responsibilities:

      • Accurately process payroll on a regular basis for employees across multiple locations, adhering to applicable payroll regulations.
      • Utilize Dayforce to manage and input payroll data, including regular pay, overtime, bonuses, and commissions.
      • Calculate and verify team member hours, deductions, benefits, and other payroll-related items, ensuring compliance with tax laws.
      • Address payroll-related inquiries from employees, resolve discrepancies, and provide support for issues related to pay.
      • Process and reconcile payroll journal entries, including vacation accruals and other adjustments.
      • Maintain accurate records for new hires, terminations, and employee status changes, ensuring proper benefit enrollments and deductions.
      • Submit ROEs and manage year-end filings such as T4s.
      • Process payroll tax filings and remittances, ensuring compliance with government requirements.
      • Assist in performing self-audits to maintain accuracy, and support internal audits during off-cycle and year-end periods.
      • Collaborate with HR and other departments to ensure seamless payroll processes and address any issues related to benefits, time off, or claims.
      • Contribute to payroll reporting, including period-end reconciliation and compliance with financial and tax regulations.
      • Support special payroll projects and initiatives as needed.

      Qualifications:

      • 3-5 years of experience in payroll, particularly with large companies (1,000+ employees).
      • Proficiency in SAP and ADP WFN.
      • Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll regulations and tax laws; familiarity with US payroll regulations is a plus.
      • Experience with payroll reporting, reconciliations, and year-end filings (T4s).
      • Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy in processing payroll data.
      • Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with multiple departments.
      • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and report generation.
      • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
      • Certified Payroll Practitioner (CPP) designation is an asset.
